Practical Training
The main objective of the Technical Officers of the Western Cape Mineral Processing Facility is to improve the practical education of mineral processing students. To this end the Technical Officers have developed a broad and diverse range of mineral processing practicals. Practicals are selected to complement the mineral processing courses and to follow trends in the mineral processing industry. In recent years there has been an effort to introduce several new Pilot Plant practicals into the programme in order to expose students to real operating processes. In addition, several new Pyrometallurgy practicals have been introduced in order to broaden students exposure to this growing field. The mineral processing practicals currently available to the WCMPF, the principles they illustrate and the number of years they have been chosen for demonstration in the 10 year history of the WCMPF are given in the table below.
